Who we are
Stephen Dankewich – Real Estate & Land Development, Utila
Stephen Dankewich is one of Utila's most trusted and experienced real estate professionals, with roots on the island stretching back to 1995 — when international real estate on Utila was just beginning. Before making Utila home, Stephen spent over a decade in Canada's landscape industry, building a deep appreciation for land, design, and development that continues to shape his work today. That background, combined with nearly three decades of hands-on real estate and land development experience, gives his clients a genuine edge when buying, selling, or developing property on the island.
Over the years, Stephen has brought some of Utila's most meaningful projects to life. He led the reconstruction of The Island House — the oldest home on Utila, now a beloved landmark on Main Street — and developed The Caldera, a beautiful tropical subdivision nestled at the base of Pumpkin Hill. His creative vision extends beyond real estate: Stephen is a drone pilot, videographer, and landscape designer, and he brings that same eye for beauty and possibility to every property he represents. He and his wife Tara, owner of The Tea Garden, have called Utila home for decades, raising their two children entirely on the island.
Stephen's greatest asset to his clients is simple: he knows Utila like few others do. His deep relationships with both islanders and the expat community, combined with his instinct for land and development, make him an invaluable guide for anyone looking to plant roots in this rare and special place. As Stephen puts it, Utila has a soul all its own — and he wouldn't have it any other way.
